Really interesting MFA project at Bauhaus-University Weimar. The artist describes it as a combination of a phenakistoscope and a flipbook, though it also seems like it has a lot to do with peep devices like the mutoscope. There are a couple of things I like about it. First, its simplicity: I love that it’s made out of cardboard. Secondly, I love how users position themselves in relation to the machine: that it’s worn almost like a helmet or hat. It makes the environment of “peep media” a little bit more immersive.
