Syntesthesic memory-making: The Touch Sight Camera

Winner of a 2008 International Design Excellent Award, the Samsung Touch Sight Camera creates a “photograph” by combining a 3-second audio file with a “flexible Braille display sheet which displays a 3D image by embossing the surface.” The user is thus able to apture and navigate their files both by hearing and touch. A fascinating redefinition of the photographic artifact, and an interesting way of linking multiple senses to a moment in time. An additional improvement would obviously be to associate a distinct smell with each file.
