The “zoetropic” work of Meejin Hong

I recently came across an interesting project that utilizes the format of the zoetrope to drive and shape narrative action. Parsons student Meejin Hong’s blog only seemed to be active for a few months, but it offers a compelling exploration of the zoetrope’s storytelling capabilities. Hong also offers a great rundown and classificatory schematic of other contemporary zoetrope projects, including the three-dimensional piece at Burning Man, Gregory Barsamian’s work, and the Toy Story 3D zoetrope. Venn diagrams help illustrate the relationships between the works. Check out the post here. I couldn’t find any report or documentation of the final project, but her new website is here and features several additional interesting projects.
